Don’t let the things now in the past
Cause you to toss and turn at night.
Blot out the shadows that they cast
By walking in God’s grace and light.

We cannot change the years gone by,
The things in life that we regret.
God dries our tears and hears our cry.
He sent His Son to pay our debt,

And by His grace our soul’s set free.
Each day is fresh, and full, and new.
We once were blind but now we see.
God’s love is real, His Word is true.

Reach out to Him and seek His face,
Praise God for His amazing grace.

April 20, 2024

Lord guide my hand, speak through Your Word,
I pray that with my heart I’ve heard.
I pray Your love will soon ignite
A deep desire for good and right.

Your love can melt away the hate,
Restore us to a better state.
Lord help us learn once more to pray,
And help us find a better way.

Lord help us see through lies, deceit,
May truth prevail, once more defeat
The ones who lie, and cheat, and steal.
Lord help us know Your love is real.

Restore our faith and trust in You.
Your word, Your love is strong, and true.

(Inspired by 1 Corinthians 16:13-14)

Stand firm, cling to faith in the midst of a storm.
When the thunder is rolling, clouds billow and form,
Our faith will sustain us and carry us through.
The darkness will fade as each day starts anew.

Be strong in the face of the troubles in life,
No matter the size or the shape of our strife.
The Lord provides strength as we reach out and ask.
His strength is sufficient for any life task.

Lord give us the courage we need for today.
May we walk with assurance as You lead the way.
As we’re walking beside You right where we belong,
In the face of adversity, we can stand strong.

May our faith keep us strong, and courageous, and true.
May Your love be reflected in all that we do.

During the times that you suffer with pain,
Perhaps someone close is no longer around,
Take time to embrace all the wisdom you gain.
One day you can share all the comfort you found.

As I’ve been through the tough times, the days dark and grim,
As I’ve weathered the storms, and avoided defeat,
I’ve discovered in trials rough edges are trimmed.
I’m more empathetic to others I meet.

It’s hard during trials, we struggle to cope,
But we get through the pain, and we see that we’ve grown.
We’re much more equipped to give comfort and hope,
Reach out to others with love we’ve been shown.

Find others around you in need of a friend,
Someone beside them to help as they mend.

April 16. 2024

Lord help me to live knowing this life is brief,
And to always treat others with love and respect.
Things gained in this world can be snatched like a thief.
It’s the things that endure that I must not neglect.

If my work is for treasure, or fortune, or fame,
If my focus is solely on me and my quest,
Then my life will be empty, and I am to blame.
I pray helping others defines my success.

Lord help me to focus on things that endure.
As I’m blessed to bless others each day as I write,
Help me find what is wise Lord, and truth that is pure.
Help me share what I find Lord, may others see light.

Lord help me each day of this life that I live
To be focused on others and love I can give.

If you knew that this world would soon come to an end,
That the mountains would crumble, and buildings would fall,
Would you make any change, or decide to pretend
That you must have been dreaming, choose not to recall?

We each have an end date beyond our control.
If we pass one by one, or as part of a crowd,
In the midst of our prime, or when wrinkled and old,
We’re given each day on this earth we’re allowed.

If I learned to live life and to cherish each day,
What would be different and what would I do?
To my friends and my family, I’d find ways to say,
In words and in deeds to express, “I love you.”

Lord grant me the wisdom to know how to live,
And cherish each day of my life that You give.

Each morning, I rise and begin a new day.
Yesterday’s done, I have new words to find,
New thoughts that are brewing with new things to say,
New stirrings within bubble up to my mind.

A fresh cup of coffee each morning I brew,
Settle down in my chair, Lucy curled in my lap.
As I pray and I read, and I find something new,
Miss Lucy’s content to just finish her nap.

What keeps my mind active and eager to write,
When I could be still sleeping all snug in my bed?
I guess I’m compelled to be sharing God’s light,
In the hope that these verses might one day be read,

Perhaps entice others to open God’s Word,
And open their hearts, so God’s message is heard.

As I pray and I read may I hear my heart sing
The chorus of angels, hear flutters of wings.
I pray that God’s Spirit instills in my heart
The love and compassion I try to impart.

I pray that the words that I pen are for you.
I pray that the love of the Lord will shine through.
I pray you find peace, even joy, as you read.
May God’s Spirit provide you the strength that you need.

Spend time in His Word finding treasure and gold.
Passed down through the ages it never grows old.
I pray as you listen you let your heart hear
From the Lord’s Holy Spirit, be still, and draw near.

I pray as I read and spend time in God’s word,
It’s my heart that has listened, God’s Spirit I’ve heard.

I believe in my God, so I speak through my rhyme.
Perhaps all the thoughts that I capture and share,
Will touch someone else at the right place and time,
Someone in need of some comfort and care.

I pray that those suffering, lonely, or sad
Will find comfort and know that in God there is love.
Reach out and embrace it your heart will be glad.
Rest in the warmth of God’s light from above.

The price has been paid, it’s enough for us all.
Take the ticket, it’s time, they are boarding the train.
The whistle is sounding, there’s no time to stall.
Take this journey with God, there’s so much to gain.

On this journey through life as you ride with the Lord,
You will never regret your decision to board.
